What is an appraisal?   
Our appraisals are for insurance purposes only, and we also do Estate appraisals for fair market value. We advise our customers to get jewelry insurance through either a blanket rider on their home owners policy- or a stand alone jewelry policy that covers each piece, which would be a schedule rider. Jewelry insurance is usually 1-2% of the total value of the jewelry piece. It is always a good idea to get insurance on a piece of jewelry that is more than $1,000.00 in value, in case of loss or theft.

Can I bring in jewelry from my deceased family member to have you tell me what it is worth? 
We can take a look at your jewelry  and let you know if it is gold or not-and what karat of gold it is. We do not do any verbal "how much is this worth" appraisals for any jewelry- if you want to know the value of a piece, we can do a complete professional evaluation with a written appraisal for a fee.
